Strategic Plan Meetings Start Strong

The Blaine County School District Strategic Plan started with a series of staff and community meetings last week. Approximately 500 people participated in 10 staff and 3 community meetings. Working in groups, people brainstormed the answers to a series of questions including: What is the role of school in a democratic society? What is the role of students, educators, parents and community? The groups also brainstormed a mission statement for the district.
The next series of meetings will be:
Tuesday, February 24, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Hemingway Elementary, Ketchum*
Wednesday, February 25, 12:00-1:00 p.m. Community Campus, Hailey
Wednesday, February 25, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Carey School Carey

Nominate a Student for Doing The Right Thing
Nominations for Do The Right Thing are being accepted at the City of Hailey website. An easy and brief nomination form can be found on the main website for the City of Hailey. The deadline for nominations is Monday, February 9, 2015. Any student from any school in Blaine County can be nominated.

BCSD Partner Update: Footlight Dance Tours the Schools
"Rockin' Dance" will tour the Blaine County Schools Jan. 26 - Feb. 6 presenting this educational look at the history of Rock and Roll thru dance. Dancers include WRHS students: Liza Buell, Lynnlea Strickland (both seniors), Cassidy Simpson, Malila Freeman and Dylan Porth. Also from WRMS: Abbie & Britta Heaphy, Taylor Telford, Tate Stearns, Sam White. The company also includes 8 other dancers from the Community School and Sage School.
Schedule: all shows are open to the public and free of charge

Hailey Elementary Principal Named Superintendent in Nebraska
Hailey Elementary Principal Tom Bailey has been selected to be the Superintendent of schools in Broken Bow, Nebraska. His new position with Broken Bow Public Schools will begin July 1, 2015. He will serve the remainder of his contract in Blaine County until the end of the school year. Read more here.
