*Tickets are for reserved seating and are limited. Only two tickets per person can be reserved. Once tickets have been assigned you will receive a confirmation email. Tickets can then be picked up at the main office in the Community Campus beginning January 5. Tickets must be picked up by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14. Any unclaimed tickets will be available the day of the show on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 9:00 a.m..
Since seating is limited we will be web-casting the event in three rooms at the Community Campus (Minnie Moore Room, Queen of the Hills Conference Room and the Black Box Theater). A ticket is not required for overflow seating. Chairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Join the Blaine County School District for a conversation with Daniel Pink, award-winning author and TED speaker. In this lecture, Pink will talk about the need to create a culture of innovation and why we must build a learning environment driven by the passions of students and educators.

Be Part of Our Future: Apply for the Strategic Plan Steering Committee

Be Part of Our Future. The Blaine County School District Board of Trustees seeks volunteers for the Strategic Plan Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will be comprised of patrons, parents and staff who will begin meeting in early January. Eight people will be selected by the Board of Trustees for the Steering Committee.
According to the application form, "The Steering Committee provides the framework for the recommended process used in strategic planning. The proposed process includes active involvement of the Board of Trustees, the community, students, BCSD administrators and educators. Each stakeholder group will bring critical expertise and viewpoints to the table. This collaborative approach will result in a robust plan, developed and vetted through multiple lenses."
Parents and patrons are encouraged to apply by Tuesday, December 16 at 5:00 p.m. Please contact Board Clerk Laurie Kaufman at 578-5003 or fill out this form.

Last Week to Take the School Climate Survey
Join over 270 other parents who already took the survey. Parents are invited to give their school a letter grade and provide feedback on their school with theSchool Climate Survey. All parents with email addresses in Skyward received the School Climate Survey on Tuesday, December 2. Look for paper surveys at your school, or go here to take the survey. The survey closes Friday, December 19.

Public Invited to Senior Personal Project Exhibition

The public is invited to the Senior Personal Project Exhibition at Wood River High School on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. All seniors will be displaying the work they completed for their Personal Projects and answering questions.
WRHS teacher Julia Graft said, "Due to the transition to the International Baccalaureate - Middle Years Programme project model, we will no longer be needing community members to serve as panelists for the senior presentations. However, we have truly valued the community involvement in that process and are looking for other ways community members can directly participate."

Students Accepted to All-State Choir/Orchestra and All-Northwest Choir
Congratulations to the Wood River High School students were recently accepted to All-State Choir/Orchestra and All-Northwest Choir. Choir teacher Max Stimac wrote, "This is a huge accomplishment for our music kids and school. Rebecca Martin and I are very proud of our All-state musicians. Again this year it is a new school record of accepted students."

College and Career Center Opens for Students
Pictured above left, Wood River High School counselor Millie Reidy, and above right, Superintendent GwenCarol Holmes cut the ribbon for the new College and Career Center at Wood River High School. The new space in the library provides a centralized area for students to explore college and career opportunities. The ribbon cutting event included dozens of community members who volunteer their time to assist students with college applications. The new College and Career Center is supported in part by the Blaine County Education Foundation.

Board of Trustees Vote on School Calendar
The 2015 school year will begin Tuesday, September 8 after Labor Day. At the regular Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, December 9, the Board of Trustees voted that the start of school will begin the first day after Labor Day, which is Tuesday, September 8. The Board approved "extending" the existing calendar and moving the same start and end dates to next year. Stay tuned for a detailed calendar once all dates have been determined.

BCSD Thanks Community Partners
The Blaine County School District held a meeting with dozens of community partners to say thank you for all that they do for our schools.
Partners included: Hailey Public Library, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Blaine County Hunger Coalition, Environmental Resource Center, College of Southern Idaho, Flourish Foundation, Community Library, Sun Valley Summer Symphony, Sun Valley Center for the Arts, Footlight Dance, Wood River Animal Shelter, Wood River YMCA, Blaine County Recreation District, WOW Students, Blaine County Drug Coalition, Hailey Fire and Police Departments, the City of Hailey, and Girls on the Run.
The Blaine County School District is grateful for the multiple ways that our community partners contribute to the academic and artistic success, as well as the health and well-being of our students.
