Your Questions about the Student Wellness Policy Answered
Is it true that chocolate donuts are sold at secondary schools?
Yes, chocolate donuts and other snacks are available for purchase at secondary schools in an A La Carte section of the cafeteria. All of the A La Carte items will meet the new federal nutrition guidelines by the end of the school year. Baked goods will still be available for purchase but they will contain Whole Grains.
Help! What should I bring for my child's birthday celebration next week?
How about fruit with whipped cream? Or muffins baked with whole wheat flour and fruit? See the Student Wellness flyer below for more information and other healthy snack suggestions.
Do snacks and food for celebrations need to be store-bought?
No. There is nothing in the updated Blaine County School District Student Wellness Policy that states that snacks or food for celebrations needs to be store-bought.

Idaho Public Health Officials Closely Monitor Respiratory Infections
Parents should be watchful of their children, especially if children have an underlying health condition such as asthma or a lung disease. If a child is ill and begins to have trouble breathing or is wheezing, parents should contact their healthcare provider immediately.
Enteroviruses are transmitted through close contact with an infected person or by touching surfaces that are contaminated by the virus and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes. Symptoms of enterovirus illness include fever, runny nose, sneezing, coughing and body aches. There is no vaccine, but people can protect themselves and others by washing their hands frequently, covering their cough and staying home when sick.
