Read Results of Parent Climate Survey

Thank you to each of you who took the time to respond to the Parent Climate Survey in March. We received 625 responses. Overall, 79% of parent participants rated their child's school as an A (Excellent) or B (Above Average).
The survey asked parents to respond to statements and then indicate their level of agreement with those statements. Overall, there was strong agreement on topics related to academic preparation, student support, parent engagement, school safety and school operations specific to technology, transportation and buildings and grounds. There was less agreement with topics regarding alcohol and drug use and food service.
The results of the surveys were shared with each principal and the Board of Trustees and will be shared with incoming Superintendent Dr. GwenCarol Holmes. Interim Superintendent John Blackman says, "Over time, this annual school climate survey will show overall trends and will be one of several ways we can gauge our effectiveness with parents and students."

Jorge Pulleiro: A Love of Country and A Love of Students
Jorge Pulleiro (pictured back row red shirt) thought he was done being recognized by the Troops to Teachers program. He was featured on the White House blog, he received a personal note from former First Lady Laura Bush, and he was recognized on the district and school websites and BCSD Weekly Update. What more could be done? This is why he was caught off-guard when a group of people walked into his classroom unannounced this week to officially recognize his contributions both as a veteran and as a teacher.
