Wood River High School Named to Washington Post List of America's Most Challenging High Schools
Wood River High School was named to the 2014 Washington Post list of America's Most Challenging High Schools. The list utilizes a Challenge Index which is designed to identify schools that have done the best job in persuading average students to take college-level courses and tests.
According to the Washington Post, the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given each school year are divided by the number of seniors who graduated. This formula is called the Challenge Index.
Blaine County School District Board of Trustee Chairman Shawn Bennion says, "Our staff have done a tremendous job offering more Advanced Placement classes and encouraging students to challenge themselves and try college-level courses."
