Find Out About Real-World Math
How do students demonstrate their knowledge of symmetry, rotation, reflection and translation in pre-algebra? Wood River Middle School teachers Sharon Wyeth and Mike Stemp taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students how to design quilt squares. The resulting quilt squares will be donated to a quilt through the Sun Valley Fabric Granary. Read more here.

Read About Real-Life Heroes
Last year, the Blaine County School Board approved a program called VOICES II. The program assists students with disabilities to become more self-sufficient and knowledgeable about themselves in order to become the most independent adults after they leave school. Exciting things are happening for the VOICES II program. Recently they received an accolade from the Blaine County School Board of Trustees. Read more here.

Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools, and designed primarily to distinguish schools adhering to a set of educational standards. The accreditation process is also known in terms of its ability to effectively drive student performance and continuous improvement in education. The process is rigorous and thorough.
Last year Silver Creek School received accreditation and this year Carey School is renewing its accreditation. All secondary schools in the Blaine County School District are accredited, which is required of all public secondary schools in the state of Idaho. Read more here.

Explore Firefighting
Hailey Fire Department is seeking young men and women in their Junior year of High School to join the new Fire Explorer Program. Learn what it takes to be a first responder in a safe, fun environment. This program teaches the basic skills required for firefighting as well as including Explorers in fundraising, fire prevention activities and special events throughout the year.
