Interim Superintendent Sends Helmet to Sochi

Interim Superintendent John Blackman

While some may know him as the Interim Superintendent, John Blackman is also known as the talented painter of helmets that sometimes find their way to the Olympics.  After making his mark by painting several noteworthy helmets for Picabo Street, Blackman was once again asked to paint another helmet for the 2014 Olympics.  This time he was asked to paint a helmet for Olympic skeleton racer Kate Uhlaender.

The women's skeleton races are scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.on Thursday, February 13. Look for John Blackman's helmet in its Olympic glory!

Local Chefs Visit Schools

Spinach, sweet potatoes, blueberries and oats.  Not the typical ingredients for cookies.  Recently, Woodside Elementary students tasted "Lava Cookies" as part of the Chartwell's Chefs2Schools program.  Local chef Al McCord from the Wood River Sustainability Center made the organic cookies and spoke to the students about the nutritious ingredients.  Look for more Chef2School programs coming soon.
