Students Contribute to Holiday Baskets
Sixth graders at Wood River Middle School got a taste of community service in a big way as they collected books for the Wood River Holiday Baskets. School Closure Communication

We received a few questions over the last few weeks regarding cold temperatures. Check out the frequently asked questions and answers below. How cold does it have to be before we close school? If the temperature is between 15-20 degrees below zero, the district will consider delaying and or cancelling school. Please keep in mind that temperatures vary throughout Blaine County and that there are many factors to consider when making the decision to delay or cancel school. How will parents be notified of a school closure? In the event that school needs to be delayed or cancelled we will notify KECH/KSKI radio and other local media. We will also post information on our website and Facebook in addition to sending a Skylert to parents, staff and students. What is Skylert? Skylert is the notification system through Skyward. It can be sent via email, text, phone call, or all three. Parents have complete control over what phone or email they want as a contact. It is important to update your contact information in Skyward to make sure it's accurate. If you need help doing this, please contact your school secretary. Please note that we will only notify parents and staff if and when we have a delay.

Superintendent Search Firm Selected
During an open and public meeting last Thursday evening, the Board of Trustees selected an executive search firm to conduct a nationwide superintendent search. The firm is Ray and Associates, Inc. Next steps include conversations with all stakeholders identifying the strengths and opportunities for the district, as well as leadership qualities that stakeholders would like to see in the next Superintendent. School Board Chairman Paul Bates said, "We were impressed with all of the search firms we interviewed, but in the final analysis the majority of Board members felt that Ray and Associates, Inc. provided the best fit for our needs." Please check back on our website and the BCSD Weekly Update to stay involved. And thank you to each of you who attended the meeting.
