Local History Books Donated to Schools
Pictured above: Woodside librarian Tami Deagle, Reading Specialist Maggie Shaughnessy and Woodside students with new history books.
A Pictorial Early History of the Wood River Valley, a new book by the Community Library's Regional History Librarian, Sandra Hofferber, was released March 1st, 2013 thanks in part to a Teacher Incentive Grant from the Idaho Humanities Council won by Woodside Elementary Reading Specialist Maggie Shaughnessy..
Ms. Hofferber's book was well underway during the summer of 2012 when Ms. Shaughnessy began an internship for certification in library science in the Regional History Department. This interaction led to collaboration on the grant application and Ms. Shaughnessy's aid in structuring the book to so that it could be easily integrated into classroom curricula. A number of copies will be gifted to the elementary schools and libraries in Blaine County.
