Dual Immersion Survey Results
Superintendent Dr. Lonnie Barber shared the results of the Dual Immersion survey with the Board of Trustees at the regular meeting on Tuesday of this week. Over 750 staff, parents and community members resonded to the survey.
Overall, 53% of respondents indicated they either Strongly Support or Support creating a magnet school at Woodside Elementary and one DI class per grade at Hemingway Elementary, while 61% indicated they either Strongly Support or Support maintaining one DI class per grade level at each of the four neighborhood elementary schools.
The survey is one source of information the Board of Trustees will consider when making a decision about the future of the elementary Dual Immersion program.

5th Graders Learn About Bullying
In partnership with the Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence, all fifth grades students in the Blaine County School District (BCSD) participated in an anti-bullying program this week. BCSD school social workers teamed up with Travis Jones, the Advocates' Director of Engaging Boys to Men program, and traveled to each elementary school to impart the message of how to "Get In, Get Out or Get Help" to combat all types of bullying. Anti-bullying education occurs year round in BCSD and is led by the dedicated social workers in each school. For more information, click here |
Robotics Tournament Was a Success
The VEX Robotics Tournament hosted by the Wood River High School Robotics team was a success last Friday. 18 teams from Idaho and Utah attended. Kevin Lupton organized the event. See the Slideshow

Veterans Honored by Students
Blaine County School District students honored veterans on Monday. At Wood River High School, students took veterans to Shorty's after the school assembly. Assemblies and classroom lessons occurred throughout the district. At Carey, students wrote letters to both veterans and current military service men and women. |
