 | | | October In Review:    You probably know a youth with special needs, maybe a family member, a neighbor, or one of your friend's children.  Have you ever thought about what their life is going to look like after they graduate from High School? For young adults in rural Vermont the choices are limited, and that is why Zack's Place serves a vital need in our Upper Valley Community.  Be sure to read about our month's activities and view the wonderful pictures.
During the crisp October mornings, our hiking club set foot on the trails at the Woodstock Fitness Center, the Quechee Gorge, and the Northern Rail Trail.  We experienced "Going Green" with Alicia from VT Law School,  delivered posters for Pentangle, worked on our greeting cards with Bailee, went to the library with Sarah, and created many arts and crafts projects.
Mid-day we crafted pottery with Fiona at ArtisTree, learned line dancing with Patricia, learned about floating, exploding and mutations in Wacky Science Class with Anthea, cooked with Kate, hosted our annual free soup day, enjoyed farm programs at Billings Farm, learned R E S P E C T with Angel, swam at the Aquatic Center with Community Classroom, and worked on our greeting card business plan with Bailee.
In the afternoons we went to the movies with Kitty, learned sign language with Nancy, did yoga with Tita and Annie and fitness with Bari, explored art with Fiona, carved pumpkins with the Woodstock Elementary School Student Council, and sang with Kerry.  We also read books with Ron Jaynes, Phil Swanson, Pam Pickett and TJ Borzekowski.

 | Oktoberfest was wonderfully entertaining with the band from Woodstock Union High School.  Jaym Henderson, J ody Henderson, Hannah Merseal, and Gerry Grimo (not present in picture) practiced for weeks and made the event festive.  Kathy Emmons, Chef Jeremy, and Ian White served a delicious farm to table gourmet meal.  Beer was supplied by Harpoon Brewery, and most dressed in their finest Lederhosen and Dirndls.                               |
 | Let's Talk Turkey Zack's Place Turkey Trot was established in 2007 and is now in it's 8th year! This is our most significant fundraiser and every registered runner helps keep Zack's Place going.  You can even run from where ever you are.  If you go online and register under "Global", we will mail you your t-shirt.  The amount that we are able to raise is all about numbers.  The more people that register, the more we are able to raise for Zack's Place.  Every dollar goes to our non-profit organization to support our essential programs.  Turkey Trots are popular, and there are other ones going on, but we hope  you will stay with us!  Not only are you supporting a good cause, but you are exercising, having fun, and enjoying our fantastic entertainment.  We hope to provide you with a wonderful Thanksgiving morning, so go ahead......register! Even if you are going to be in California or Phoenix Arizona...You can do it anywhere! |
