Simon's Corner
It was a busy month of May for Simon as he prepared for the change to summer weather and the resulting increase in course traffic that happens every June.
One major on course change was around an iconic piece of our golf course. The tree that has stood in the middle of the 11th fairway from the first day we were open - now called The Armitage Tree - has sadly been removed due to disease and age. This story expertly tells the tale of how we all must have felt at least one time about that tree over the many years it stood guard over our course.
So what does all this have to do with Simon you may ask? Well, we still don't have a winner for our "Where is Simon" photo contest that we ran last month. So, we are extending it one more month and we are giving you a big hint. The location Simon and Bert are at is at least tangentially related to our recently removed tree. Post your guess on our Facebook page to win a prize!

Playing The Game From the Inside Out
-by Derek JJ Whipple Professional Golfer | Coach Instruction
Over the years, many players have come up to me asking "How can I be a more consistent player?". They ask "Why do I shoot a good score one day, and then I am all over the place on the next?", and "Why did I hit so many good shots at the range, then once I got on the course, I can't do anything right?".

This golfer often feels like he/she playing a game of Russian Roulette every time they go out onto the course. And, honestly, there is nothing more frustrating than not knowing whether you will play to your potential especially when it counts the most.
This commonly leads to a build up of personal frustration, self doubt, self criticism, anger, and guilt, that may even cause a player to want to give up.
So, before you hit the sixth stage (full out rage) and end up breaking an overly expensive golf club against the tree or simply leaving the game for a while, why not just click here to find out more about achieving a more consistent approach to the game.
Golfingly,
The Whip

Things are heating up at Greenacres Golf Course as we enter the much anticipated days of summer. The month of June is highlighted by great golf dates like Fathers Day, the US Open, and the first day of summer! So mark your calendar and be sure to swing by and join us for some exciting times at Greenacres.
Also, Greenacres would like to give a huge shout out to the Grounds Crew for doing such a wonderful job preparing and maintaining the course during the much cooler and wet spring season. The course is currently playing very well and is in truly fantastic shape, arguably the best it has been in years. We are also very pleased to welcome back all of our returning members, our summer staff, and all of our regular golfing friends as we prepare for a much anticipated season of sun. We would be remiss if we didn't also send out a heartfelt welcome and a show of appreciation to our new members, our new staff, and the many new golf faces we have seen this season, as we head into our fabulous peak season of golf. So come golf with us! Everyone is welcome!

Golf Fore Gals & Greenacres |
Tee It Up With Golf Fore Gals at Greenacres
Summer is just around the corner and that can only mean one thing - Golf Fore Gals (a multi-course golf club for women of all skill levels) is in full swing at Greenacres Golf Course.
Why? Because Greenacres is golfgal-friendly!
So how does one determine if a golf course is women-friendly? Start with Golf for Women Magazine's criteria, which includes:
- Two tees rated for women, with one set < 5,300 yards and a second under 6,000
- Few forced carries
- Well maintained fairways and greens
- An unpretentious environment and traditional design suited for golfers all skill levels
Ask any GFG member and she will say that Greenacres fits that description to a tee!
Members from both the Vancouver and Fraser Valley GFG Chapters play regularly at Greenacres during the week and on weekends because they appreciate the reception they receive when they check in at the pro shop, tee it up, keep pace on very walkable fairways, putt on well-maintained greens and wind down with excellent food and drinks on the patio.
And because they get such a warm reception by the staff, every year GFG chooses Greenacres for one of its two very special competitions - their Solheim Cup or Canada Cup. This year GFG's Canada Cup Event will be held at Greenacres on July 14th. Greenacres has also hosted GFG's Wind Down Tournament in 2010 and 2012 to rave reviews.
GFG members love the game and the life-long friendships they've made through the club. But they also care about giving back, which is why GFG members sit on the Greenacres' Annual Par Fore The Cause Golf Tournament committee, and many participate every year in the event to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Golf Fore Gals and Greenacres are a match made in golfgal heaven, which is why some Greenacres' Women's Fun League members also belong to GFG.
