THE GA EXPERIENCE
Simon's Corner
With The Masters, golf's first major of the season, upon us Simon is anxious to get our spring golf season underway too.

As such, Simon and his friend Bert decided to get a round of golf in recently. They even got a picture of the two of them out on the course together.

So here is where you come in.  To win a prize, all you have to do is be the first one to correctly guess the exact location on our course that Simon and Bert took their picture at.

Post your guess on our Greenacres Facebook page to win a prize!

Golf Link of
the Month
There are often a few fun, interesting or just downright entertaining golf stories, pictures or videos that surface every month. So, our crack golf team here at Greenacres will now be providing you a link to at least one of those great golf stories or videos every month within our newsletter.

This month's link features Nicholas Thompson hitting an 88-foot second shot from the water on the par 3 17th hole to within a foot and tapping in for par, during the third round of the 2013 Arnold Palmer Invitational.  Enjoy!

Golf Tip of
the Month
Make Every Hole a Par 3

-by Derek JJ Whiple

Professional Golfer | Coach | Instruction

If you appreciated learning about the ongoing career and accomplishments of our Oldest Member, Mr. Ernie Canover, than I am certain you will enjoy this edition of the 'Tip of the Month.'  After all, this is the tip that Mr. Canover was so gracious enough to share with me.

For the past couple of months we focused our attention on the short game and the on-going pursuit of lowering the most recent of our scores.  By following in the genius mind-steps of the great Bobby Jones we learned the importance of figuring out the best way to turn 3 shots into 2 from around the green.

Now it is time to understand how to get closer to the green in as few shots as possible so that we are on our way to shooting scores more relative to par. And one of Mr. Canover favorite ways to do that is to "make every hole a par 3". To learn more on how to do this click here.

Golfingly,

The Whip

Greenacres Player Profile
The Talented Mr. Canover...

"In every clubhouse there sits a man better known as the 'Oldest Member.' From the perch of his favorite chair he sits in reverie. The soft soul of a presence makes him virtually undetected by that of any weekend guest. Yet, at any time he can snap out of any slumber abruptly, and speak with the practiced ease of a recounteur, with no need of a cue to begin his story."

--P.G. Wodehouse

Now every club has their 'Oldest Member.' And Greenacres Golf Club in Richmond, BC is no different. When I was asked to write a short story of achievement about a man who had continually shot his age in several rounds, each year, for over a decade, it made me smile to hear that, in my investigations, he was also known as 'The Oldest Member. read more
