True Tales Radio - February and March
|
True Tales Radio Producer John Lovering welcomed seven storytellers on Tuesday, February 24. A special aspect to this show was the featuring of two themes: "Daring/Taking A Risk" and, from the blizzard-cancelled show of January 27, "Resolutions/Starting Fresh."
Emcee Pat Spalding was one of the guest storytellers, in addition to Craig Werth, Al Porsche, Emilie Spaulding, John Tully, Roberta Swagel, and Dr. Linda Rhodes. There were original titles such as Before Fear--Great Adventure; Honolulu On Two Cents A Day; From The Turnip Truck Into The Traffic; To Diet or Not To Diet; How I Found My First Cow Doctor Job, and more.
All these shows are broadcast live before an in-studio audience. Free seats are available for audience members on a first-come, first-served basis, and the audience is asked to arrive by 6:20 p.m.
True Tales Radio takes place during the Audio Theater timeslot on the last Tuesday of each month. The March 31 theme is "Breaking the Mold/Inspiration" and there are only three slots remaining. If you are interested in being a storyteller for March 31, please email: truetales@wscafm.org.
Note that on the first Tuesday of each month, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., Pat Spalding and Amy Antonucci conduct a free, fun and relaxing Storytelling Workshop for potential storytellers who may be a little shy or nervous. This workshop is held at the WSCA station, 909 Islington Street, Suite 1, Portsmouth. For more information email: patspalding@gmail.com.
True Tales Radio is on Facebook. Like us and check there for information about upcoming events and news related to storytelling.

| Audio Theater - Monthly Theme Nights Begin |
Audio Theater begins monthly theme nights, Tuesdays, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Beginning March 10, and every second Tuesday of the month thereafter, Audio Theater will feature a special theme night, presenting only radio shows that fit the monthly theme.
In addition, guest co-host, Jon Nash, will team up with host John Lovering to select the monthly themes as well as the shows to air. The March 10 theme is "Made In Chicago." The three radio programs (all produced in Chicago) in the selection process at this time are: The Whistler, Curtain Time and The Dave Garroway Show.
On April 14, the theme will be "Radio Under The Big Top" and three programs will be chosen having story lines connecting them to a circus. Taking the family to the circus was a very popular activity in the late 1940s through the mid 60s and many radio shows drew their plots from a circus setting.
We invite fans of Audio Theater to submit their ideas for a monthly theme by sending them via email jlovering@wscafm.org. Audio Theater is on Facebook and each week a playlist video is posted of the shows and stars to be featured. "Like us" there!
