November 29, 2013
Hello WSCA Friends,
This issue of Tidings is my goodbye as editor. I've been writing the monthly e-newsletter for the last year, with much appreciated help from eagle-eyed Leslie Brenner and John Lovering as my proofreaders. I inherited Tidings from Kevin Caron; preceding Kevin was the original editor and founder of Tidings, John Lovering. Julien Aklei, of Wednesday's Familiar Voices, has stepped forward as my Tidings successor, so look for her writing in the December issue.
Thank you to my loyal readers and I'll see you around the station!

The Beatles for Thanksgiving
|
Shawn Henderson brought us the 5th Annual Thanksgiving With The Beatles, all day on Thanksgiving November 28th, starting at 7 AM and ending when Shawn finally made his way through the entire Beatle catalogue. And remember, it's archived for two weeks, so you can listen while you're sitting at your desk at work! And check out this cool video promo!

| LIVE MUSIC MARATHON LIVES ON IN ARCHIVES! |
If you missed out on our all day Live Music Marathon of 18 acts in our studios on November 3rd, don't despair - it's archived! Click here for edited links of each hour of the marathon which began at 10 AM and ended at 8:25 PM. For the list of artists and performance times, click here.
This was part of our fall fundraiser week and is a great example of the terrific shows we bring to you. But without our listeners' donation, this programming can't continue. If you haven't donated, it's not too late! Donate here or mail us a check payable to Portsmouth Community Radio, 909 Islington St Suite #1, Portsmouth , NH 03801. Thank you!

More terrific broadcasting to check out: WSCA aired The Death of a President on November 22nd, covering the assassination of JFK as well as the aftermath. This broadcast, produced by Ann Haggart, includes on-the-scene reports, local citizens' memories, and guests voicing their opinions of the Warren Commission Report.
This excellent show is saved on our archives. Listen here.

For news you're not going to get in the corporate-sponsored media, tune in to Democracy Now! every weekday at 5-6 AM (rebroadcast of previous day's show) and 5-6 PM.
This award-winning, daily independent global news hour, with Amy Goodman & Juan González, is broadcast on Pacifica Radio, some NPR and PBS stations, some community and college radio stations; some satellite television, AND on WSCA. Get informed, tune into Democracy Now! every weekday morning and afternoon.

Nikki Summer will be taking a leave of absence from her Wednesday morning show, The Navigator Mix, due to health issues. Nikki has been volunteering at the station since February of 2010 and has had her own show for the last year and a half . . . and she's already missing her listeners! We wish her a speedy recovery.
