October 29, 2013

Hello WSCA Friends,

The big news around here is our weeklong Fall Fundraiser, kicking off on October 31st (we'll be marching in the Portsmouth Halloween Parade

Pumpkin art courtesy of the Supersport

and hosting an everyone-invited, after-parade party at the station) with lots of special events planned throughout the week. Come by any time during the week and meet the DJ's, the in-studio guests, bring your friends and support WSCA. There are lots of great incentives to become a member during the week (local yoga, theatre, and restaurant give-aways, oh yeah), so be sure to listen in. Call 603-430-9722 or donate online here.

And Tuesday, November 5th, is Election Day. Don't forget to vote and tune into Portsmouth Community Radio--we'll be covering the election, so read on . . .

WSCA Covers Local Elections

During this season of local elections, host Charlie Griffin, along with Portsmouth Herald reporter Chuck McMahon, interviewed the 23

Chuck McMahon(L) and Charlie Griffin listen intently to candidates' responses during the forums broadcasted Tuesday mornings in October.
candidates running for Portsmouth City Council over the course of eight shows.

If you missed the shows, you can still listen here.

Next up Live from City Hall:

Charlie and his team, starting at 7:15 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 5th, will broadcast live the results of the  Portsmouth Municipal Election. Station volunteers will be at each of the city's five wards to obtain the tallies when the polls close at 7 pm and then report those results from the station. A running tally of all votes will also be kept so that listeners will know within a matter of minutes who has been elected to the City Council, School Board, Police Commission and Fire Commission and who the next Mayor will be.

In addition, WSCA's Kathy Somssich, Larry Drake, Damon Thomas, and Charlie Griffin, along with Roger Wood and Lincoln Soldati will analyze the results and give their take on what they mean. Interviews with many of the successful candidates will cap off the evening. Whether you are a political  junkie or just an interested citizen, you won't want to miss this special event which is just another example of your Community Radio Station in action!

Don't miss this live, on-the-ground reporting. Special thanks to John Lovering, who will be handling duties back at the station during this special broadcast during our fundraiser week.
