Fresh New Face for the Discovery Website

Website screen capture
If you haven't visited the Discovery website recently, be sure to take a few minutes to enjoy its new design and features.

This mobile-friendly site will be the docking station for all things alumni, including featured events, an archive of the latest newsletters and publications, and important links.

Of special interest is the expanded "Alumni Stories and Notes," which features nearly 200 (and growing!) profiles, updates, and blurbs about alumni around the world. The stories are organized by decade, starting with the 1950s and before, and by class years and names. Click on any name, and you will be transported to the School and Experiment Station Newsroom to read all that is posted about the alum. The "thumbnail" photos on the right side of the page will be changing frequently, so visit often and see who you recognize.

Equine Science Center Celebrates 15 Years with Showcase

Anniversary logo
Executive Dean Bob Goodman and Center Director Karyn Malinowski invite you to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Equine Science Center at a special Summer Showcase from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Red Barn on College Farm Road, New Brunswick. Not to be missed is a live research demonstration by faculty and students featuring a horse running on a high-speed equine treadmill. Also learn about the equine skeleton and its similarities to the human skeleton and test your knowledge with a round of equine jeopardy. The showcase is free and open to the public; advance registration is requested.

Join Alumni and Friends at the Annual Fish Fry July 16

One of the school's oldest alumni traditions - the annual Fish Fry sponsored by the Italian buffet Cook Community Alumni Association - is coming to the Log Cabin Pavilion from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016. This year -- in addition to the traditional batter-fried fish and steamed shrimp and mussels -- there will be a Little Italy Buffet with pasta stations and meat dishes for landlubbers, and a wide assortment of desserts and beverages.

Special guests will be members of the Class of 2001 and 2006. The fry cooks will be alumni from several classes, and as is the custom, professor emeritus Roger Locandro will be on hand to slice and serve an Alaska salmon.

Be Part of Rutgers 250 at the 4-H Fairs - And Win Prizes

In celebration of Rutgers' 250th anniversary this year, New Jersey county fairs will Fair Cut-out feature the theme, "Rutgers. Revolutionary for 250 Years." Starting in mid-July at nearly all county fairs, special cut-out figures featuring Rutgers magazine covers will be on display so visitors can have their photo taken and be a cover girl or guy. Then if  they post their picture on Facebook or Twitter with #RUinto4-H, they will be eligible for Rutgers prizes in a monthly drawing.

In addition, a special tent that recreates the signing of the charter that founded Rutgers will be set up so that fairgoers can be photographed signing the document and being a founding father (or mother or kid!). To find out the dates and locations of this summer's fairs, please visit the 4-H website
