Beautiful Day for "Let's Do Lunch"
Worries about showers evaporated with the morning sunshine as the 2016 Ag Field Day at Rutgers Day got under way on the George H. Cook Campus on the last day of April. Thousands thronged the campus, and overall Rutgers Day drew more than 100,000 visitors to the various campuses. This was the first year that Rutgers Day was celebrated at Rutgers-Camden and Rutgers-Newark simultaneously with New Brunswick-Piscataway. See Executive Dean Bob Goodman's comments on NJTV. Among the firsts this year was the setting for "Let's Do Lunch with the Executive Dean." The event took place in the children's area at the new Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health building on Dudley Road. It drew a record attendance of nearly 200 alumni and their families, who enjoyed a healthful barbecue with grilled chicken, shrimp on a skewer, and veggie kabobs, along with salads and sides. The reaction from attendees was very positive. As one put it: "tasty and healthy food and lots of choices, plus a very nice venue!" Mark your calendar now for April 29, 2017, the date of next year's Rutgers Day gathering.
