Reunion 2013: Retired Faculty and Silver Knights Join Alumni and Friends

Traditionally, the Silver Knights (Rutgers retired staff) and many retired faculty join alumni in the annual Rutgers University Alumni Association Reunion. For this year's event, scheduled from May 16-19, RUAA is extending a special invitation to retirees. Visit the Reunion website for a complete list of events.

This initiative is part of the new Retired Faculty and Staff Association (RFSA) started a year ago as the umbrella organization of the Retired Faculty Association, the AAUP Emeriti Assembly and the Rutgers Silver Knights. If you are a Rutgers retiree who hasn't filed your email contact with the RFSA, please do so at RFSA@rutgers.edu so we can begin "connecting" with you.

New Endowed Chair
in Water Resources
and Watershed Ecology
Egret

A new faculty chair, endowed by charitable organizations of the Johnson family, will enable the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences to study the relationship between natural salt- and freshwater-based ecosystems and the influences of human activities in the Raritan River drainage basin and its estuary. The Johnson Family Chair in Water Resources and Watershed Ecology will be funded by the Cape Branch Foundation, led by James L. and Gretchen W. Johnson. The Cape Branch commitment to the endowed chair will be supported by other Johnson family members through The River Branch Foundation and the John Seward Johnson 1963 Charitable Trust. The Johnson Family's generous gift of $1.5 million will be matched with an additional $1.5 million from an anonymous donor -- part of a $27 million challenge grant to create 18 endowed faculty chairs across Rutgers.

A report on the gift and the environmental initiative appears on the Rutgers Media Relations website.
