More than 18 million American adults suffer from sleep apnea, according to the National Sleep Foundation. It’s not surprising, then, that the FAA has turned its attention to pilots at high risk for sleep apnea. Read about it in this month’s BAC Bulletin, plus more news from the FAA.

FAA Revises Sleep Apnea Guidance
In April, the FAA announced that it will ask aviation medical examiners (AMEs) to review new draft guidance that would require pilots at risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to undergo testing and treatment, if necessary.

CALL TO ACTION: Contract Tower Program Funding
A call to action has been issued by the AEEE, requesting you contact your representatives in Washington in reference to the President’s budget request for fiscal year 2015 released on March 4. Not surprisingly, it proposes to eliminate the guaranteed funding bill language for the FAA Contract Tower (FCT) Program. Click here.
