TREXPRO® PROFESSIONAL BUILDING SERVICES HONORED WITH PROFESSIONAL REMODELER DESIGN AWARD
New Hampshire Contractor Recognized for Sleek, Innovative Outdoor Design
WINCHESTER, Va. - Oct. 8, 2014 - New England TrexPro® Platinum contractor Professional Building Services has earned national recognition as a winner in the 2014 Professional Remodeler Design Awards competition. The awards program recognizes the best remodeling projects across the country in 22 categories, including outdoor living under $100,000 where the New Hampshire-based company captured the Silver Award for an innovative deck design featuring multiple tiers, curved edges and a built-in fire pit.
"We pride ourselves on delivering distinctive deck designs that break free from the traditional 'boxy' look of many backyard decks," said Peter Ciaraldi, founder of Professional Building Services. "The flexibility and high-performance of Trex® products allows us to be creative with our designs, which gives us a competitive edge and certainly contributed to earning us this win."
For the award-winning project, Ciaraldi and his team were challenged to replace an old, dilapidated wood deck plagued by rotting boards and exposed nails with a smooth, safe surface designed to withstand active kids, pets and the often severe Massachusetts weather. The new space also needed to complement the Colonial style of the home and surrounding landscape while being extremely low-maintenance given the family's busy schedule.
To address these needs, Professional Building Services looked to Trex
"Trex was an obvious choice for this project due to its comprehensive offering of high- performance, durable outdoor living products, including decking, substructure, railing, lighting and accessories," noted Ciaraldi. "Everything works together to create a beautiful, long-lasting and easy-to-care-for outdoor escape."
For enhanced stability and design flexibility, Ciaraldi began with Trex Elevations® steel substructure for the deck's foundation, offering superior structural integrity. For the high-traffic outdoor area, Trex Transcend® decking and railing was chosen for its beauty and durability. Designed to outperform wood, early-generation composite and PVC for decades, Trex Transcend is engineered with an exclusive low-sheen, high-traffic formulation that resists fading, staining and scratching - and will not rot, warp, crack or splinter. With both Trex decking and railing, upkeep is hassle-free and requires no sanding, staining or painting.
"To blend with the home's architecture and surroundings, we designed a multi-level, wrap- around deck using two different colors of Trex Transcend deck boards - Spiced Rum and Vintage Lantern," explained Ciaraldi. "The complementary decking shades reflect the home's natural setting, and also help to designate and define the different functional areas of the outdoor living space."
