Dear Fiddleheads JamCamp Friends,
We hope you are planning to join us for our 19th annual Fiddleheads Acoustic JamCamp, September 9-11, 2016, at Camp Methodios on Clement Pond in Contoocook, New Hampshire.
This year we are planning to offer more small group jamming. We're also offering: a song writing workshop; how to put together sets of tunes; and jamming in many styles -- fiddle tunes, bluegrass songs, country songs, folk songs, blues, swing, cajun and more.
As always, our focus will be on teaching and inspiring musicians of all experience levels to play with each other in various styles--both singing and instrumental--and to experience playing in a band setting.
Camp attendees will participate in guided jams that focus on jamming essentials and techniques (hearing chords, backup, playing in different styles), soloing and more.
Days at the camp will be filled with educational small group workshops and the evenings will be for performing, jamming and having fun!
This is a fun-filled and educational three-day acoustic music camp.
We hope you can join us in September! Kathy Sommer (Zimpfer) and Ellen Carlson Camp Organizers, Coaches

2016 Featured Coach: Cajun Fiddler David Greely
|
David Greely was born in Baton Rouge of Cajun and Irish ancestry. He learned Cajun music on dance hall stages throughout South Louisiana, in the archives of Cajun and Creole music at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, and from his apprenticeship to Cajun fiddle master and National Heritage Fellow Dewey Balfa. As a founding member of Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, David toured Folk Festivals worldwide for 23 years and was nominated for four Grammy Awards. He has received the Louisiana Artist Fellowship Award for Folklife Performance, and is an adjunct instructor of Cajun fiddle at the University of Louisiana. David teaches Cajun fiddle and Cajun lyrics and vocals to students the world over in workshops and music camps. His fiddle classes subtly instill an understanding of the structure of music along with classic Cajun repertoire, and in his vocals classes he employs a lively and inclusive call-and-response style with a unique method of evoking a true Cajun French accent in his singers. |
