Join Us for the 2013 Ensemble!  Rehearsals Start Soon!

Hi all,

We had another great year with the Fiddle Ensemble in 2012 and we are looking forward to a great 2013 Ensemble as well. The Fiddle Ensemble is not just for fiddlers--all acoustic instruments and vocalists are welcome. We will work on fiddle tunes and sung songs of many styles: American; Irish; Scottish; Swing, Folk and Bluegrass. The purpose of this training orchestra is to provide a place for musicians to learn all the basics of performing and musicianship, both in the traditional manner (learning by ear) and using sheet music. The registration fee for all rehearsal sessions and performances is $180.

Coming Soon! Preview Rehearsals
This year there will be preview rehearsals in each of the three locations: Exeter on November 29; Tilton or Franklin on November 30; and Sandwich on December 5. These preview rehearsals are for those of you who want to start working on the music early. These rehearsals are not required but they will allow you to get a copy of the music and the accompanying CDs. Remember, you do not need to know how to read music as all music is provided for you on CD both up to speed and slowed down. A deposit of $50 (non-refundable) will be applied towards the final registration fee. You may also just come to sit in and decide if this is for you. If you cannot make a preview rehearsal, you may send a check for $53 (deposit and mailing fee) to have the music mailed to you.

Beginner or Advanced Music Available
We will all participate in the main portion of the program and be expected to learn about 12 tunes/songs. Again this year there will be advanced music and beginner music available. You choose the music you want to perform based on your ability. You can perform on it all if you choose. Everyone is expected to be at rehearsals and must be committed to practicing their parts on their own.

Calling All Kids!
If there is enough interest, we will have a Kid's Group for children under 13. This group would meet six times for 1.25 hours each and also include two partial dress rehearsals plus optional participation in the concert in Franklin for $100.

Rehearsals, Dress Rehearsals, Two Final Performances
Rehearsals will be held on the dates shown at left in Franklin (or Tilton), Sandwich and Exeter. We will all rehearse together in two dress rehearsals in Franklin on March 24 and April 7 and the final performances will be on Friday, April 12, in Exeter (optional) and Sunday, April 14, at the Franklin Opera House (required).

If you have questions about your ability level, please feel free to contact me. You can sign up or request more information by calling me at 603-661-1981 or emailing me at:  fiddleheads_nh@yahoo.com

Keep on playing music--get your friends to learn, get together and jam with people--it can keep you happy and healthy.
