Director's Notes
Special relationships are what the Catch A Special Thrill Foundation has been built upon. Relationships between staff and Coordinators, Coordinators and their communities, and especially between the Boaters and children. Without these, CAST would not be the special program that it is and be able to provide the wonderful experiences that we do. But there are other relationships that are also very important that tend to fly under the radar.
I am talking about the relationships involving the CAST employees.
In addition to me, we have three CAST employees. First is Jessica Kelly, whom many of you may not know. She is part time and has worked tirelessly behind the scenes providing event support and maintaining the content on our website. Next is someone almost all of you know, and if you don't you are definitely missing knowing someone special. His name is Art Pasley and he is the National Program Director and there is absolutely no one that is better at his job. The third person and the reason I am writing about these relationships is Ashley Kaiser. Ashley has been with CAST for 4 years. To list everything that she has done for CAST would be impossible. Just know that without her we would still be in the 20th century and floating around looking for land.
So it is with a true sadness that I announce that Ashley is leaving CAST. It is bittersweet because she is leaving for a job with the Bethel School District in Tacoma, WA after completing her Masters of Education earlier this year. Her last day is August 9th so please take the opportunity to send her a note before she heads out.
Our new development coordinator, who many of you will work with, is Susan Bressler. Susan has been very active in the Renton, WA community where our headquarters is located. She has worked with many local service clubs, the Renton Kiwanis Clothes Bank, and the local chamber of commerce, and has an extensive background in marketing, communications, and fundraising. We are very excited about new energy she brings to the foundation.

CAST Partners with Academy Sports & Outdoors!
We are pleased to announce that as of June 1st of this year, Academy Sports and Outdoors had become our newest national event sponsor. Their presence has already been felt at our long running Harvey County event held in Wichita, KS. CAST Regional Event Coordinator Tom Spencer works tirelessly each year to create an already exceptional event, but Academy Sports and Outdoors was able to add several touches putting the event over the top. Events at Packery Channel in Corpus Christi, TX, and Lake Thunderbird in Norman, OK will also receive special touches courtesy of Academy. We look forward to what the future will bring with this new partner!
