It's All About Building Relationships: A Salute to Whistlestop
As we wind up our 40th year at Bread & Roses, it's a good time to reflect upon the importance of our relationships with the facilities we serve. Longevity of service is one of the hallmarks of our organization.
Looking back at our first published newsletter in 1976, we see that we have been consistently serving a number of facilities through the years.
"It's all about building relationships," Program Director Carolyn Gauthier recently noted. "Knowing the staff and residents of facilities for a long period of time strengthens our connection." Click here to read more about the programs that we have served since the 70s and see a special salute to Whistlestop.

Bread & Roses Licenses Rights to Song for the "Pride" Movie
Bread & Roses licensed the rights to the Bread and Roses song for the film "Pride" now showing in Bay Area theaters. The movie features a stirring version of the Bread and Roses song with lyrics by James Oppenheim and music by our founder, the late Mimi Fariņa.
Based on an inspirational true story, the film follows a group of gay activists in London: "Lesbians & Gays Support the Miners" who rally to support the rights of Welsh coal miners who went on strike in 1983 for better working conditions.
