Since 1974, Bread & Roses continues to thrive.  And it's your loyal commitment that makes this possible! You understand the importance of our work: to provide hope, healing and joy to those who most need the healing power of live music.

Together with our donors and volunteers we annually uplift the spirits of more than 30,000 isolated individuals while creating a community for our volunteers to give their best gifts to our neighbors in need.  We have come a long way. In 1994, we took 400 shows into 100 Bay Area institutions. Today we present shows over 600 times a year in 125 facilities throughout the Bay Area, without charging fees or receiving government funds for our services.

Presenting live music creates lifelong connections:  While twenty years ago less than 10% of our audiences were children and youth, today fully a third of our shows are directed towards them-in fact as many as for adult or senior populations.  We reach these children and youth in low-income daycare and special schools as well as youth in detention centers and rehabilitation facilities across the greater Bay Area.In addition, more youth now volunteer as Bread & Roses performers for all audiences giving these young artists the chance to grow and give back. These connections make a difference.

Connections really matter. Our shows are more interactive-with ukulele lessons or song writing workshops, magic shows and other performance art. These programs enhance the opportunity for meaningful connection between the audience and the performer.
