40th Anniversary Benefit A Great Success!
A 40th anniversary only happens once in a lifetime, and this was by far a night to remember! Bobby McFerrin brought down the house with his incredible jazz-improvisational stylings backed by the incomparable Yellowjackets and performing duets with his son Taylor and daughter Madison. SoVoSó started the night off with intricate a cappella creations that left our jaws dropped and our hearts wanting more! Y ou may be familiar with her award-winning hit "Midnight at the Oasis" so you won't want to miss the chance to hear Maria Muldaur's latest songs at the very special blues and gospel brunch to benefit Bread & Roses at The Fenix in San Rafael on Sunday May 4. A long-time Bread & Roses volunteer performer, Maria will be joined by her Red Hot Bluesiana Band, the enchanting songwriter/guitarist & ukulele player Sofi Rox with violinist Dick Bright and composer/guitarist Aidan Nelson. Proceeds benefit Bread & Roses, now in its 40th year of bringing hope and healing through live music to our isolated neighbors in institutions throughout the Bay Area. Click here to purchase tickets!
Click here to read the story about the wonderful Bread & Roses programs for Black History Month that were given by performers Noah Griffin and Phillip Percy Williams. Noah's program at the Orin Allen Boys Rehabilitation Ranch in Byron, CA was an inspiring highlight of a day-long Black History program for 100 teen-age boys and staff at a detention work camp in Eastern Contra Costa County. Phillip's wonderful Nat King Cole concert with Si Perkoff on piano was applauded and lauded by a capacity crowd at The Tamalpais, a residential senior facility in Greenbrae.
