May 28, 9-12:30pm

Connecting with manufacturers throughout the Central Okanagan to identify ways to enhance  manufacturing businesses in the region is the purpose of the Central Okanagan Business Walk on Tuesday, May 28. The May 28 Walk will see business leaders connect face-to-face with operators of manufacturing businesses through a short informal discussion about their business environment.

The May 28 Walk will take place in manufacturing clusters throughout the region. Volunteers from the Kelowna Chamber and more than 30 volunteer business leaders ("walkers") will call on approximately 100 businesses and have brief conversations around four key questions.

Policy Committee Update

Our policy committees will be taking forward two resolutions to the BC Chamber AGM at the end of May. We collaborated with the South Okanagan Chamber to urge the provincial government to sign an Agreement to Negotiate with the Government of Canada that will conclude the feasibility process and move to the stage of negotiating various details respecting the establishment of a National Park Reserve in the South Okanagan -Lower Similkameen.

We have also worked with the Kelowna office of the Canadian Home Builders Association on some recommendations for changes in the implementation of the PST that could mitigate some of the impacts to business and in-bound business investment. Our interest is to keep BC attractive as a place to invest and do business.
