We love local at JustAskBoo. Each week, JABBERS are tasked with sharing the best of the best in Broward ... and each week we learn something new. This week, while you connected others to a delightful daycare in Weston and a prized hair removal professional in Pompano, we discovered a lively Lauderdale-By-The-Sea celebrating lobster mini-season. Keep reading to find out what we learned about their unique coral reef project, while JABBERS across the county share neighborly concerns, South American travel plans and their summer reading recommendations. So get comfortable, and enjoy a little local flavor in your morning coffee.
Have a great week and Happy JABBING!

Neighbor to Neighbor
My neighbors' 40-something-year-old daughter is lifelong a drug addict, presently abusing pills and crack cocaine. She has brought so much pain and chaos to her family, and they are spent emotionally and financially. Nothing has worked. I would like to offer my neighbor help, beyond being a should to cry on. Can any recommend a support group or counselor for parents coping with an adult child's drug addiction? Would AL-ANON be a good fit? They are Catholic and are open to faith-based services. We are located north of Ft. Lauderdale. Thank you.

Reefer Madness
 | A presentation on Biorock at last week's BugFest-By-The-Sea Photo credit: The Town of LBTS | From Team JAB
The calm, quiet vibe of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea belies the current of energy that literally lies within its waters. Swimming distance from the shore, the Town's Biorock Artificial Reef Project ~ the nation's first coral reef fisheries and restoration project ~ employs a novel technology that channels solar energy into a low-level electrical current to speed up coral growth and survival. And with coral comes fish! Since it was first installed in 2011, Biorock has become a favorite local attraction for scuba divers and snorkelers seeking to see science in action. To learn more about the Biorock Artificial Reef Project, click HERE.

Under the Rug
From Lisseth Aguilera: REPLY What is the best method to deep clean our floor rugs (wool and silk)? I have a little dog who has accidents on the rugs during thunderstorms so I'd like to find a good method that doesn't use chemicals but gets rid of the smell and bacteria. Is this something that needs to be done by a professional or can I spot-clean at home? Thanks for your insight!
