How appropriate it is that next Monday's Earth Day falls during National Volunteer Month ~ both exemplify community, cooperation and change! This week we focus our celebration on volunteering to impact our environment. The County's EcoAction Days put your green thumbs to good use in parks and nature centers across Broward. "Keep Broward Beautiful" takes your do-gooding ocean-side with monthly Beach Sweeps. Opportunities range from year-round to once-a-year (see Earth Day 2013 volunteer opportunities below.)
While we've caught you in a giving mood, respond to a JABBER and share that amazing art appraiser you found last year or the back pain specialist who helped you so much, you named your first-born after him. And if you have a volunteer organization to promote, contact us HERE so we can help you spread the word to our thousands of reliable, like-minded subscribers.
Happy Earth Day and Happy JABBING!
-Team JAB

An Eye for Art I need to have a painting I purchased on eBay appraised. There may be a question of authenticity, so if you can recommend anyone familiar with Nicola Simbari's work, I would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Believe in Boston From Team JAB
Our hearts and prayers go out to the City of Boston, as we struggle to cope with the tragic events of earlier this week. But the good surrounding us is never far behind, as seen in the volunteerism and self-sacrifice displayed in the aftermath of the explosions. See images of these brave people HERE.

Congratulations to Peter Bermont, Advisor Extraordinaire
From Team JAB
Team JAB would like to extend a warm congratulations to Board Member and JABBER extraordinaire Peter Bermont. Peter is widely known and admired for his charm and his warm personality, not to mention his humility. So what he won't tell you is that he was just named as one of America's Top 1000 Financial Advisors by Barron's for 2013, ranking Number 19 in the State of Florida. He was also named among the country's top 400 advisors by The Financial Times (April 11, 2013), carefully selected from among more than 250,000 advisors nationwide. JABBERS, this is huge. In case you haven't had the privilege of meeting Peter yet, there's a lot more to him than finance. He serves as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for the Bermont Advisory Group. Equally important, is Peter's dedication to his community, where he serves on the boards of the United Way, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Miami and as a past president and trustee of Temple Israel. And of course, JustAskBoo's prestigious advisory board. Congratulations, Peter!

Concerta ConcernsMy 12-year-old son was diagnosed with ADD three years ago and was treated successfully with Strattera. He has recently outgrown it and has been prescribed Concerta. He has never been on a stimulant and I am concerned about possible side-effects. If you have experience with Concerta and are aware of the pros and cons, I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

Help Stop Bullying and Find Kindness
From Team JAB
We recently heard about an incredible award-winning documentary called Finding Kind, made by two young Pepperdine University graduates about the "mean girl" phenomenon and bullying. They traveled the country to speak at schools and listen to stories about the impact that bullying has had on its victims. They have documented it in a way that will move and inspire girls to be kinder to each other. To check it out, click HERE. The cost is $500 for a school to use the DVD for two screenings, which can be shown to a variety of audiences. JABBERS are all about kindness ... let's share this important message with our children and their friends. Special thanks to JABBER Amy Zambrano for the scoop!

On the RocksMy four-year-old suffers from a very stubborn form of excema and my seven-year-old has asthma. I am considering taking them to The Salt Suite in Delray for salt therapy, which I hear is an effective natural way of treating these conditions. If you have any experience with salt therapy or have first-hand information about The Salt Suite, I would love to hear from you. Thanks!

Is it Child's Play?I'm sad to say that my 10-year-old child is a bully. He is always making fun of kids in his class and shoves and pushes them for no reason. We have tried disciplining him for this behavior but nothing seems to work. Family and friends tell us that it is typical behavior for a boy this age but I am concerned. I am considering taking him to a therapist to figure out why he thinks it is acceptable and even humorous to treat others unkindly. If you have an opinion or experience with this, I would love to hear from you. Thank you!

Its a Jungle Out There! It's time to pay it forward! I was given a pre-loved, extra-large jungle gym five years ago, and I now want to donate it to a large family or preschool. It has two full-size swings, a baby swing, a teeter-toter swing, a climbing rope, a rock wall, a private picnic table and two full-size slides. It needs a little love, but it's nothing a weekend warrior couldn't tackle! If you are interested, all you need to do is arrange for it to be picked. Feel free to email me for pictures.=
