This past weekend marked the 25th Annual Las Olas Art Fair (Part I), giving art lovers in Ft. Lauderdale an excuse to brunch at sidewalk cafes and to engage in a little people-watching. After the grandeur of Art Basel, the intimacy of the event was refreshing: more than 150 artists displaying original works side-by-side in a tight

chain of mini galleries; crowds of patrons walking, shopping, eating together; artists and patrons in close contact, discussing techniques and inspiration; art sales, sidewalk sales, and Italian sausage on the grill ~ all squeezed into four downtown blocks on a warm weekend in January. For those of us who had resolved to experience more of Ft. Lauderdale in 2013, the art fair was an excellent first step!

Of course, a JABBER turned us on to it. All it took was one recommendation from a trusted source, and our weekend plans were set. The brunch was a bonus, and we have already referred a friend there for dinner. JABBERS helping JABBERS. One can't help but wonder where we'll send each other next!

Have a great week, and happy JABBING!

Asheville Abode
From Lynne Moore:  REPLY
I will be spending the summer in Asheville, North Carolina while I work on completing my master's degree. My family and I will be renting a house for the month of July, but I am in need of a one- to two- bedroom for two weeks in June. Hotels and many other rentals seem prohibitively expensive for such a short period of time. If you or someone you know may have what I am looking for, please contact me. Thank you!

Out of the Ballpark

Tony Snetro,
95 years young
From
Team JAB
If you need further proof that age is just a state of mind, just look at Tony Snetro who, at 95 years old, is the oldest member of the Young Viejos softball team that still plays in Coral Gables twice per week (watch it HERE). He is an inspiration to the whole community (particularly the 65-year-old rookies on his team), and especially to his granddaughter Ashley Schutz, our former Palm Beach Editor and Lifetime JABBER. So make this your goal for 2013: get inspired and go for it ... because you're never too old and it's never too late. Your JAB community is rooting for you!

Sight For Sore Eyes
From Joy Blanchard:  REPLY
I have been using the same brand of makeup for years, but recently developed an intolerance to their eye products. Unfortunately, my doctor was unable to suggest any alternative products. Do you have a particular brand of eye makeup you would recommend for someone with sensitive eyelids? Thanks for your help!
