A Tale of Two Eagles
HNC's Wildlife Rehabilitation Gives Animals a Second Chance

Saving lives and opening minds on behalf of wildlife...this is the mission of the Howell Nature Center Wildlife Program. I'd like to share with you two cases from this past year which beautifully exemplify that mission in action.

In late 2012, two juvenile male bald eagles were transferred together to the Howell Nature Center for care. One eagle was three years old and in need of re-conditioning in our 100' Eagle Flight Pen in order to be released in top physical form. The younger eagle was only six months old and came from a golf course near Gaylord. He had broken his wing in a fall from the nest. Though his parents fed him on the ground for many weeks, no help was sought for the fracture until it was too late. X-rays revealed that his injury would be permanent.
