Howell Nature Center Announces Remaining Availability for Summer Day and Resident Camps
Howell, Mi - July 30, 2013 -Just a few opportunities remain for parents and children to take advantage of Howell Conference & Nature Center's Resident (overnight) and Day Camps. Ten spots in the August 4 - 9 session of the Spirit of Alexandria Nature Camp, a FREE overnight camp for children entering third through fifth grades, remain. Applicants must act fast if they are to participate; applications are due no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013. A key to the application process is that the children must write their own essay about why they'd like to attend camp. Link to printable application

And although the Nature Center's Day Camp (entering 1st-5th grades) and Day Camp Extreme (entering 6th through 8th grades) have enjoyed enormous popularity in 2013, recent cancellations have made spots in several of this summer's remaining weeks available, opening the possibility of kid fun and parent reprieve.

Both camps operate 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with before and after care available for an additional fee. Registration for each week of camp closes on the Thursday before at 5 p.m.

About Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education at the Howell Conference & Nature Center

The Howell Nature Center's Wildlife Rehabilitation program celebrated 30 years in service to injured and orphaned animals in 2012. It is the largest and most comprehensive program of its kind in Michigan, and is recognized across the country for its specialization in raptors, or birds of prey. The Nature Center cares for 2,300 injured and orphaned animals every year, with the bulk of those intakes coming in May, June and July.
