Calling all Delco Team Runners:
It's time to register for the teams for the 50th running of the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon, March 17, 2013.
We need seven runners per team. The teams are men, women, and coed masters and open coed. Last year, we had four great teams. Lets go for more! Here is what I need from you. Name, full address, age on race day, date of birth, gender, t-shirt size, e-mail address, telephone number, emergency contact person with their telephone number, and estimated finish time. You can e-mail me this information to dktate1@juno.com or mail it to me at Dennis Tate, 158 Marlborough Rd, Upper Darby, PA 19082. A check payable to Delco RRC for $38.00 can be mailed to the above address, handed to me at a fun run, or handed to me at the bike shop in Media. The race director expects a large turnout so don't delay getting registered. I'll keep you updated.
Caesar Rodney Registration Update: Currently, we have seven runners registered. Two master women, three master men, two open coed. We need more runners.

Tyler Arboretum 10K Trail Race (this Club event sells out, register early!)

10K Trail Race - This race was named one of the Philadelphia area's best races by Philadelphia Magazine's BE WELL PHILLY. Presented by Delco RRC, the race is a USATF Mid-Atlantic Off Road GP event. The entry fee is $30 before March 9, and $35 afterwards, until the field is filled. All runners will receive a commemorative premium. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers overall, and also to the top three male and female finishers in 10-year age brackets. Results will be posted on www.DelcoRRC.com. Runners can register online at www.tylertrailrun.com or with an application from Delcorrc.com. Applications are also available at race sponsor The Running Place in Newtown Square and by contacting John Greenstine, (484) 478-1576 and email TylerTrailRun@yahoo.com.

Traildawgs Barley Lentil Vegetarian Soup

The Traildawgs are a trail running group with events in the Newark, De. area(www.traildawgs.org) . This soup is served at many of their events and was passed down through the Dawg lineage, from Pawl Melzer to Grandawgie Phil Nissen to Pete ........... me...
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, coarsely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced (or dried ninced garlic)
1 large carrot, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1/4 teaspoon pepper
dash Italian Seasoning
dash Old Bay
4 cups vegetable stock
2 cups water
1 cup brown lentils or 1 cup green lentil (7 oz based on 2-1/3 cup per 1 lb)
1/4 cup barley (2 oz based on 7 oz/cup)
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, optional (at end)
salt (to taste, at end)
Soften and lightly brown the veggies for 15 minutes in the olive oil on medium heat. Add water and stock, bring to boil. Add lentils, barley, and spices and bring to boil. Simmer for 45 to 60 minutes.
Multiply quantities by 15 for 300 runners and expect to run out before everybody gets some.

There will not be an awards presentation. Award winners may pick up their plaque in the lobby of the YMCA when you finish the race. Awards will NOT be mailed. The post race party will take place upstairs at the Washington Street Ale House directly behind the Central YMCA. One FREE Michelob Ultra for all those who show their race bibs. Post race party compliments of the Washington Street Ale House.
