Transit North News is published by the Town of Lockport Economic Development Department in order to keep businesses located on Lockport's Transit Road Corridor informed about business developments and public improvements which may impact their operations. Transit North encompasses the section of NY 78 within Niagara County, from Millersport Highway to the Erie Canal.

| Transit Road Utility Work |
 In advance of the scheduled spring waterline construction on Transit Road (between Tonawanda Creek Road and the Big Lots Plaza), soil borings will be taken along this same alignment during the week of September 15, and will continue for the next two weeks. Businesses will notice paint markings and flags along the right of way on the East side only of Transit Road.

Walmart Supercenter Update
 Work continues to progress on Lockport's Walmart Supercenter at 5735 South Transit Road. Construction activity has been focused on the completion of exterior features, as well as the paving of vehicular entrances and parking lots. Completion of the interior of the store will enable a late 2014 opening of the Supercenter.
