WORKS OUT SPACE IN

BIG LOTS PLAZA

Planet Fitness, one of the country's leading fitness centers with over 500 locations nationwide, has selected Lockport's Big Lots Plaza at 5897 South Transit Road for one of its Western New York locations. Currently, Planet Fitness operates an outlet in West Seneca. Other tenants in the Plaza include Big Lots, Smarty Pants, Fantastic Sam's, Fastenal, Ladies Nails, Sherl's Laundry, Frontier Dental, EG Tax Services and Dollar General.

HERTZ RENTAL TO LOCATE ON

TRANSIT ROAD

Hertz Rent-A-Car will renovate the former Lifetime Muffler facility at 5664 South Transit Road and will operate a car rental business to service the Lockport market. Hertz operates 18 car rental locations in the Erie-Niagara region.

Transit North News

Transit North News is published by the Town of Lockport Economic Development Department in order to keep businesses located on Lockport's Transit Road Corridor informed about business developments and public improvements which may impact their operations. Transit North encompasses the section of NY 78 within Niagara County, from Millersport Highway to the Erie Canal.

WALMART CONSTRUCTION BRIEFING

Walmart

The Lockport Business Association will sponsor an information session for businesses about the upcoming construction of the Super Walmart Project on Friday, October 4 from 9 - 10 AM at the South Lockport Fire Hall. Representatives for DiMarco Construction, general contractor for the Walmart project, will detail such issues as the project timetable, hours of construction activity and truck traffic routing. Attendance is open to all businesses on South Transit Road in order to be better informed about possible impacts to the operations of their respective businesses. No advance registration is required.

TRANSIT NORTH STREETSCAPING

Planting of trees and floral beds will begin this month in targeted areas on South Transit Road as part of the Town of Lockport's Transit North Streetscaping Project. Additional plantings in the section from Robinson Road north to the City line are expected in 2014. In addition, the Town has applied for a $384,000 Transportation Enhancement grant, which would enable the Town to construct five sections of landscaped highway median within the 6,850 foot section of South Transit Road.
