Yahoo! Announces
Datacenter Expansion
Internet giant Yahoo! will construct a 150,000 SF addition to its Northeast Datacenter, located in the Lockport Industrial Park. The upgrade of the Yahoo facility is being aided by a 7.2 MW allocation from the NY Power Authority. The Datacenter and call center will result in the creation of an additional 115 jobs. Yahoo had purchased a 13 acre site in the Lockport Industrial Park in December of 2012; the additional acreage will allow Yahoo! to expand its footprint from 30 to 43 acres. Construction on the next phase of the Yahoo! datacenter is expected to commence in May, 2013, with completion planned for March, 2014. Yahoo's current 190,000 SF facility employs 77 employees, including Facilities Operating Engineers, Site Operations Technicians and Operations Center Technicians.
