"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the kings meat nor with the wine which he drank thereof."
Daniel 1:8 (KJV)
Today's Focus: Spiritual Life
It is easy to get complacent in our walk with God. In a perfect world, we could easily get up a half hour early to have quiet time and devotion. Often, however, the snooze button is more enticing. We will never have a dynamic spiritual life until we purpose to have one. Daniel 1:8 speaks to how Daniel intentionally did what honored God and the king by keeping himself from that which did not belong to him. Though the meat and wine, things that were convenient and tempting, had the potential to seduce Daniel, he "purposed" to do what was right. In the same way, we must be careful to not allow temptation to distract us from what God wants most - our love, worship, and obedience.
Today's Thought: Be intentional and purpose to do that which builds up the Spirit of God inside you.
Today's Prayer:
"Lord, I purpose today to live a life that honors You."
