Summer School Garden Workshop in Apopka
Teachers seeking a workshop to learn how to create, maintain and use a school garden as a teaching tool look no further. FAITC is holding a two-day school garden workshop June 11-12 in Apopka. Summer Forestry Workshop Deadline March 9
Florida teachers seeking a workshop to learn about the state's forestry resources are encouraged to sign up for one scheduled for June 23-26 in Fernandina Beach. The deadline to apply is March 9. Volunteer Grants Due March 13
   Farm Bureau offices, Extension offices, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies that have a project that educates K-12 students about the source of their food, fiber and fuel are eligible for Florida Agriculture in the Classroom's Volunteer Grants. Literacy Day April 21
    Florida teachers and agriculture industry volunteers  who want to read a book about Florida farm animals to K-5th grade elementary classrooms are encouraged to participate in  Florida Agriculture Literacy Day April 21. The book, Drive Through Florida: Livestock and Poultry, is the first in a series of Florida Agriculture Literacy Day books tied to new educational standards that emphasize reading non-fiction text. Its red truck mascot, Ole Red, takes students on a tour of beef, dairy, equine, swine, poultry, goat and sheep farms in Florida. A classroom set of materials includes one book and one teacher resource disc for the teacher, bookmarks and stickers for students and is provided to volunteer readers free of charge. 'Unbridled' Scholarships 
Available for National Conference
  Florida K-12 teachers interested  in attending the 2015 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference 'Unbridled Possibilities' in Louisville, KY June 17-20 can apply for scholarships.
