Happy Eid-ul-Fitr! We at Muslims for Progressive Values hope that Ramadan has brought you tranquility and personal growth. In the spirit of giving, we invite you to support MPV's #ImamsForShe Initiative!
In March of 2015 during the Commission on the Status of Women at United Nations Headquarters in New York, we launched an initiative called #ImamsForShe, which seeks to provide solidarity for Imams, Muslim lay leaders and Islamic scholars who actively advocate for women's rights, for empowerment and gender equality and debunk misogyny in the name of Islam. Since hosting this public event, we have created a buzz on social media and held a private consultation with Imams, policy makers and human rights defenders at the United Nations in Geneva. In just a few months we have garnered support from many Imams, activists, human rights defenders and the general public to roll out the #ImamsForShe initiative in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region. The time is now!
As Ramadan draws to an end and Eid approaches, please take a moment to reflect on your blessings and consider making a donation to MPV to allow us to continue promoting the peace and inclusiveness inherent in Islam while combatting human rights violations across the Muslim world. Your donation will be used to fund the #ImamsForShe initiative to:

Disseminate #ImamsForShe messaging through a MENA regional office in Tunisia;

Train 40 Muslim religious leaders in one year in the MENA region on becoming an #ImamsForShe;

Highlight positive theology, debunking domestic violence, female genital mutilation and cutting (FGM/C), honour killings and forced and child marriages as inherent to Islam;

Develop educational materials, such as cartoons, webinars and booklets on the compatibility between Islam and women's rights;

Convene Muslim religious leaders, policy makers and women's human rights defenders on the urgency of ameliorating the lives of women and girls in Muslim contexts;

Raise public awareness and support around the world for #ImamsForShe.

As Muslims in the West, we are privileged to live the life we have. In the meantime, the radicalization of Muslims and human rights abuses in the Muslim world has gotten from bad to worse. Nothing will change until we invest in a future of universal rights, justice and peace.
