"Giving Tuesday"
Unshackling Islam from Patriarchy

 Its 'GIVING TUESDAY'

Dear Everyone,

In the world of consumerism we would like to encourage you to balance that with giving to worthy causes such ours.

We are a 100% volunteer organization, meaning everything that we have accomplished throughout these years have been the result of volunteer work by board members and members of our community.

We have been growing with two new chapters - Salt Lake City and Columbus, OH - in just the pass few months, and with chapters in France and Denmark taking root.

In the next year we need to be able to afford two full-time paid staff in order to manage the growth and in meeting the needs of our community.

The Muslim world is hungry for an alternative such a ours. In response to our interview on Egyptian Dream TV, the emails and even phone calls from the Arab world, including men, have been heart-warming. Here is one example, unedited:

For me and For many many Arab Muslim , we support your movement, we support you because we believe that what you represent is THE REAL ISLAM ..Go ahead and don't give up ,,we need to reform our religious thoughts

So please, give this Tuesday or any day! Your donation is tax deductible and we promise to put it to good use.

Sincerely,

Board members-

MPV Reception with Mona Eltahawy

this Tuesday December 4, 2012

"Unshackling Islam from Patriarchy"
- Washington, D.C.

Dec 4 Mona

Mona Eltahawy will be the keynote speaker at a benefit reception to be held at Human Rights Campaign's headquarters in Washington, D.C. on October 29, 2012. The event is titled "Unshackling Islam from Patriarchy". Given the assault of women's reproductive rights, of the redefinition of rape, the fight for women's rights in America seem all too familiar for American Muslim women.

Mona Eltahawy is a vocal defender of women's rights around the world, an award-winning columnist and an international public speaker on Arab and Muslim issues. She is based in New York. She is a columnist for the Toronto Star in Canada, for The Jerusalem Report in Israel and for Politiken in Denmark, and most famously for a cover story
for Foreigh Policy "Why Do They Hate Us". Her opinion pieces have been published frequently in The Washington Post and the International Herald Tribune and she has
appeared as a guest analyst in several media outlets.

We hope you will come join us where we are sure you will enjoy the talk, the food, and a special musical performance by Ani Zonneveld from her new collection of
songs "Islamic Hymns".
