Congratulations to the people of Egypt! We hope for a governmental system where there is a separation of religion and state, where the highest standards of human rights and social justice are upheld, where the needs of diverse citizens are addressed, and where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. 

We are proud of the many protesters, young and old, Christian and Muslim, who risked their lives. You have exemplified the meaning of courage, tenacity and hope and have reminded us all to never underestimate the power of the people. You have enabled us to experience the emotion of freedom and liberty that many of us here in the U.S. have forgotten and taken for granted. We stand with you in solidarity and celebration.
