There are special issues associated with parking in downtown areas where land is valuable and relatively scarce where large numbers of people converge to work, shop and visit. Parking is not an end in itself but is intended to serve the needs of a wide variety of downtown users.
The City of St. Cloud recently hosted a Parking Committee meeting. Several downtown business and property owners, along with the DTC, serve on this Committee. We discuss parking issues, principles and goals. We're pleased with the open communications and the desire to all work together.
We will be hosting a meeting in the very near future to identify the issues, prioritize those issues and begin the process of developing solution strategies for improving the quality and quantity of parking. This meeting, likely 2 hours in length, is the first step.
The Parking Committee members will come together as the second step to review and adopt a variety of specific solutions.
Date and time to be announced soon. If you are unable to attend the meeting, feel free to send an email with concerns and suggestions.
