Thank You Clean Team
|
The DTC hosted our annual Spring Clean-Up on May 12th and what an impact! We weeded, picked up trash, replenished soil, planted perennials, cleaned out the clay pots, added mulch and more. - Over 80 volunteers
- Almost 12,000 cigarette butts (not kidding)
- Over 62 bags of trash
- Over 300 hours donated
- Over 40 bags of dirt
- Over 90 perennials
- Over 40 bags of mulch
Businesses such as Netgain, Mahowald, and Capital One sent armies of employees to help. Penny White, Janet & Tom Grones, Tammy Campion, Marge Haakinson, Don Belmont, Morgan Kingston and Pegg took care of the tree rings. Coborn's provided box lunches for all of the volunteers. Also, thanks to the Mayor and the City for their help as well. We're fortunate to live in a place where people care so much. Now, let's ALL keep it clean please! If you see trash, please pick it up and throw it away. Throw your own trash away (including cigarette butts). Clean up in front of your buildings on a regular basis.

The Mississippi features some of the national's best small-mouth bass fishing. This 70th Governor's Fishing Opener will provide our community with an opportunity to highlight not only local fishing, but other activities, attractions and points of interest. Media from throughout the Midwest region attend the event, which will result in SIGNIFICANT publicity for our community and Minnesota.

Convenience vs. Lost Sales
|
The cost of employees and employers parking at meters is quite significant. A couple of years ago, while working on a parking advisory panel, David Feehan with Civitas Consultants LLC did a rough calculation to determine the cost to an average city block of stores. He found that a metered space could cost the block up to $350,000!
If you work Downtown and are inclined to plug the meter, please keep in mind just how much it is hurting your neighboring businesses.
Thank you.
