Spring Clean Up on May 8th
|
Save the date -- Friday, May 8th. [date change]
The DTC coordinates a Spring Downtown Cleanup each year. Volunteers spiff up the Downtown by picking up garbage, weeding and cleaning out the planters (we'll be placing greenery and flowers early June in all of the planters).
The cleanup will be in and around a 30-block area within the Downtown core, behind the convention center along the trail and the Eastside. We'll focus on the sidewalks and around the parking lots.
Business owners and staff together with the City all join in the cleanup. There will be 2 shifts:
9 am - noon (lunch provided at noon after shift)
1 pm - 4pm (lunch provided at noon prior to shift)
Please bring gloves and small shovels. We will have garbage bags.
Volunteers for is annual event and help beautify our Downtown. Please send an email to Pegg to volunteer; indicate how many and which shift(s) as well.
We hope that all of the Downtown businesses will take it upon themselves to do this daily, but particularly on May 8th.

Act II!
|
Since the doors to the Paramount Theatre reopened on September 25, 1998, it has truly lived up to the vision of being a showcase for central Minnesota. It serves as a venue for local, regional, and national performers and is a landmark in downtown St. Cloud. The Paramount has become a destination for audiences from central Minnesota and beyond, and it has played a significant role in local economic development.
As you have likely heard, the seats in the Theatre are in need of replacement. They are used up to 60,000 times per year, and the new seats are anticipated to have a life of about 50 years. The total cost of this upgrade is $400,000, and the City of St. Cloud has committed to pay for one-half of the cost of this project up to $200,000. The Paramount Arts Resource Trust (PART), the non-profit organization that operates the Theatre, is responsible for raising the balance of $200,000.
Visit paramountarts.org/seats for details about how you can be a part of this worthwhile endeavor by sponsoring one or more seats to commemorate yourself, your family, your business, or someone else of your choosing. What a wonderful and unique gift!

Downtown Design Charrette
|
Please join us at the Downtown Design Charrette where residents, business owners, elected and appointed officials, members of the consultant team, and other stakeholders will work together to create a detailed vision for Downtown St. Cloud. Participants will form into small "breakout" groups to map out their own "visions" for the future of the Downtown. You will also have an opportunity to identify desirable uses and features for few specific sites within the Downtown. These include the Lady Slipper Lot, the north Downtown Riverfront, the Swan Lot and nearby residential areas, and Cooper Avenue near Division Street.
Input received will be used to create a detailed Downtown Sub-Area Plan that defines the long-term role and character of this important area and identifies priority projects and improvements for the future.
