Adopt-A-Planter Program

We hope you noticed the 53 planters filled with flowers today.  It was a beautiful day for planting.

The DTC Adopt-A-Planter Program has been orchestrated by the DTC for over 15 years.  The past two years, in particular, have been extremely successful growing from 16 to 41 to 53.

This effort is led by volunteer extraordinaire and Board member, Penny White.  Businesses in Downtown are asked to adopt-a-planter (or 2 or 3) for $110 each (which means they will water them throughout the summer months).  We also had to raise funds to purchase 12 additional planters.  Once everything is secured, the plants, soil and additional planters are ordered.  Thank you to the following businesses for participating this year:

A huge thank you goes out to Fairview Gardens for their very congenial assistance and discount.  And, thank to the City of St. Cloud for partnering with us on this project.

Obviously, we can't do this without our wonderful volunteers who pulled the old greenery, drilled water holes, placed each planter, cleaned each out, add new soil, and planted 17 plants in each planter for a total of 901 plants.  We are so grateful!

Welcome Quilters'

We are preparing to welcome the Minnesota Quilters, Inc. to St. Cloud's downtown on June 11-14, 2014!
This group of 8,000 - 9,000 people will be in our city next week spending some time in classes and at the Quilt Shows.  THEY HAVE SOME FREE TIME to SPEND in our Downtown shops and restaurants as well.

The St. Cloud Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) will have a Welcome table in the lobby of the Rivers Edge Convention Center.  We strongly encourage you to get creative and provide coupons and other promotional materials for the Quilters.  Like most people, they love a good deal -- especially something that you've created just for them.  You may bring your information to the office at the American Heritage Bank East or feel free to stop by the Rivers Edge to add to the fun at the Welcome table.  The CVB will be there Wednesday - Saturday.

Questions?  Contact Judy Okerstrom at the CVB at 320.290.0218.
