JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2013

Greetings,

I would like to start by wishing all of you a Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season.

Now that 2013 is upon us, it is a great time to look ahead to what we would like to accomplish this year. This is a time where new beginnings and new positive habits can be formed. Start off by making a list of New Year's resolutions that you want to accomplish this year. Once you have the list completed, take each item and write three actions you need to do to achieve your goal.   Hopefully this will help you achieve your goals.

.

Now that the winter is here, it is time to get out the hats and mittens and have some fun in the snow.

Rainbow in the Snow: A great way to get a rainbow in the winter is to take spray bottles with water mixed with food colouring and take your children out in the snow and spray the snow with the different colours to make a rainbow.   Have fun talking about colours while enjoying the great outdoors.

Valentine's Day: This is the perfect time to talk about friendship and feelings with your older children. A great way to show others that you care for them is to make a wall of feelings. Take some cut out hearts and write down some words that tell people how you feel about them and then post the hearts on the wall.   For example "I feel happy when I am with you. "

January and February can feel like long months as the weather outside is cold. One way that you can beat the cold is to have a beach day with your children. Get out the beach towel, some beach balls and put on the sunglasses and pretend that you are on the beach and bring the warmth to you.

I wish you all the best for a happy and healthy 2013!

Sincerely,

Leslie Wilson
