Adopt a Son for Christmas  

Dear Friend,   

 

There is a group of young men here in East St. Louis who have become very near and dear to our hearts. These young men are the ones that we serve at our Lunch Outreach, in order to provide an emotionally, spiritually and physically "safe place" for them to have a retreat from the streets. These men are between the ages of 18-30 years old. They have become like family to us and internally here at the Dream Center, we call them our "brothers" or "sons."

 

Last year, we hosted our first Christmas Party for them. Our goal with that party was to "BRING THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS" into their lives. This is exactly what happened! Months before, these young men shared with us that they don't have special memories of Christmas. So, we were determined to create a very SPECIAL AND JOYFUL CHRISTMAS MEMORY for them! As you can see in the picture above, they had a lot of fun! Each young man received a special gift, a Christmas meal, a bag of cookies and a room beautifully decorated and filled with the atmosphere of Christmas.

 

This Christmas, we want to do the same thing for them again! This is why we are creating our "ADOPT A SON FOR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM". These men have become like our sons and we want to treat them this way, especially at Christmas.


We are asking ten people to "ADOPT" one of these sons for Christmas. Below is what the "ADOPT A SON FOR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM" will entail: 

 

DREAM CENTER'S ROLE:

  • The young men will write down three, $30 gift ideas on a Christmas Wish List
  • We will assign you with one young man's name and his Christmas Wish List 

YOUR ROLE:

  • Choose one new and unwrapped $30 item from his Wish List to purchase
  • Wrap it in Christmas paper
  • Call us to arrange a time to off drop the gift (phone number: 618.830.2553)
  • Drop off the gift here at the center no later than November 21st (address: 606 South 15th St./East St. Louis, IL 62207)
