In Need of Good Memories

December was full of celebrating Christmas with our young people. We had a party for the teens and a Christmas meal for our young men.

Christmas Party- Young Men

Before Christmas the young men shared with us how Christmas really isn't special anymore and how they really don't have any good Christmas memories. As all of the volunteers heard this, we decided to give them a Christmas memory they wouldn't forget!

One volunteer collected donated items for young children. Several of these young men have children and we wanted to be able to give them something so they would have gifts to give their own children. The guys were thrilled about this!

Another volunteer stayed up all night baking dozens of cookies so each guy could take a cookie bag home with him. They loved this!

Another volunteer enjoys decorating, so she bought a Christmas tree and a bunch of Christmas decorations to create a beautiful Christmas environment. When the party was over, we gave the Christmas tree to one of the young men so he could have one in his home.

We shared the Gospel message with them and told them how Jesus wants to restore their lives and how He wants to give them NEW and GOOD Christmas memories. They listened attentively and respectfully.

Just yesterday, I saw one of the young men and he said he had a good Christmas and it was much better than last year! Praise God! He also blessed his family and friends with some cookies and candy we gave to him to use as Christmas gifts. He said it felt really good to be able to give something away!

Thank you for all the ways you helped us create these special memories, either through donations, prayer or encouraging us in this work. We are so HAPPY and GRATEFUL to have you as a part of this team!

Encouragement

This is one of my favorite verses lately! I pray this for your 2013.

2 Samuel 22:25 (Msg) God REWROTE the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.

We pray that you would see this begin to happen as you continue to open your heart to God and all He has for you.
