I began writing and visiting him. Through our letters, I would see how God was working in his life. He became hungrier for God's Word and began to follow Jesus in his daily decisions. He has been in prison for almost five years now. Over the years, I've seen him grow tremendously and even though he faces crazy circumstances in jail, he relies on God to see him through. I wrote him and asked him to share a little of his testimony and what God has been doing in his life. Below is what he wrote.
"One reason I ended up being incarcerated, was due to me not taking my talents more seriously. Had I done so, I would have focused on getting my Barber's License to work in a Barbershop. However, I believe that even if I had taken my freedom and my talents seriously, I probably would have still ended up in jail, because even though I accepted Christ as a child, it took me getting locked up to want to listen to and understand Him.
My Bible and the Christian channels I watch on TV keep me close to God. I love reading and listening to the Word. My studies with the Crossroad Bible Institute also keep my relationship close with Him. I'm now on Lesson Six!
I know that my best days are still to come, because "with Christ, all things are possible." As long as God continues to bless me with days on this Earth, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior will always come through for me.
I want to thank the East St. Louis Dream Center and their newsletters for keeping me uplifted. It's like every time I read one of them my eyes open wider; it's something different and inspiring every time I read one. So again, thanks ESL DC and Ms. Rachel. I love you dearly and thanks for listening.
Love, Your Bro in Christ"
This young man has been inspired by the stories that happen here at the Dream Center, and you as a partner are a part of that! Without your support and continued giving, we couldn't do the ministry that inspires this fellow brother in Christ. So, thank you for making it possible for the Dream Center to be a channel of encouragement and inspiration to this prisoner and other prisoners this young man gives the newsletter to.
